Puts a (very basic) sidebar with tabs and groups to the left of your browser window.
Now that Chrome is auto-discarding tabs, having many becomes worthwhile, though the tab strip is woefully unprepared.
Work in progress.

Installation:

  1. Get it from the Chrome Web Store
  2. Or pull the latest source from Github: https://github.com/alcor/astrolabe

Notes:

  • Italicized tabs are unloaded tabs
  • Window focusing on mac can be frustrating because it ignores first click. Turn on autofocusing from the menu to test out an aggressive solution.
  • Sometimes things don't indent correctly.

To Do:

  • Sorting
  • Better Search
  • Group dragging

Scrollable Tabs

Once you have many tabs along the top, they may not be visible once selected. To allow top tabs to scroll, go to chrome://flags/#scrollable-tabstrip

For Full Screen

  1. Hold on the full-screen button and tile the browser to the side.
  2. Choose the sidebar as the second window

To hide Tabs

  1. Hold on the full-screen button and tile the browser to the side.
